Web site World(references)

Think of the internet as a world, not a city in that world you have lots of countries and within those countries you have states, then counties. So if a domain= country and a site = state then that must mean that links either mean counties or is it roads? Hell, I don't know that's just some mushed up mumbo jumbo I made up but in reality all we need to know is we can discover the world by simply sitting at our computers. It hasn't always been like this; let's take a look back deep into the technology history. In short there was a man by the name of Tim Berners-Lee, he is now known as the father of the web he was a professor and he wanted a way to contact and update his friends and co-workers so he created something called Hyper-text Mark-up Language. Today there is html5 and xhtml1.0 many developers still use xhtml1.0 as a matter of fact it is currently the W3C(world wide web consortium) standard. Before that they did have the internet but it was for military use only.

Now back in Tim's days and the military only days they did not have the almighty cloud like we do. Instead it was one server communicating to the other. Much like a LAN connection. Minus the multiple servers it was normally one server to the next and if a bomb distroyed that connection well then there was simply no communication. Soon they decided to make multiple connections this led to the LAN (see fig. 1.0)

Fig 1.0

As you can see LAN(Local Area Network) is a bunch of servers in a local area whereas WAN is more or less the cloud, it is the (Wide Area Network) Now those are the basics, there are more networks like MAN(Metropolitan Area Network) CAN (Campus Area Network) and PAN(Personal Area Networks).

If you want to learn more about networks I would suggest a wonderful search engine called Google. I am being a little sarcastic, but at the same time it is the truth there is a lot of information about servers and networks simply because there are people training to become network specialist and the CompTIA N+ (That is the name of the specific certification.) The training materials are all over the web. If you are seriously looking to earn a CompTIA N+ I would suggest Professor Messer.

Now that we have that  covered what are some of your favorite websites and why? What is their function? Below I will share a few of my favorite websites. These sites are in no particular order the only losers are the ones who didn't make it.
